About Dr. George Cooper
One of Rhode Island's most experienced vein surgeons, Dr. George Cooper specializes in treating varicose veins, venous insufficiency, and other vein-related conditions using state-of-the-art treatment methods.
A graduate of Seton Hall College of Medicine in Jersey City, Dr. Cooper completed his internship at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton. He then went on to undergo general surgery training at Milwaukee County Hospital in Wisconsin, and cardiac and thoracic surgery training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Over the years, he has served as a clinical associate professor of surgery at Brown University School of Medicine as well as president of Kent Hospital's Physician Hospital Organization. He has also published extensively on the topics of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in professional journals.
Board-certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Cooper is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the prestigious Society for Thoracic Surgeons. He is also a member of the group Vein Experts, an online patient/physician resource dedicated to the treatment of venous disease. Along with serving as Northeast Vein's founder and lead physician, Dr. Cooper enjoy privileges at several local hospitals, including Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Miriam Hospital in Providence, and Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick.
